Qualifying Canceled at New Hampshire

LOUDON, N.H. (July 18, 2003) – NASCAR called off Friday’s Winston Cup and Busch Series qualifying sessions at New Hampshire International Speedway after persistent rain showers soaked the 1.058-mile track.

Winston Cup practice was also canceled, along with the majority of the first Busch Series session.

Both fields will start by owner points, putting Jeff Gordon on the outside of pole-sitter Matt Kenseth for Sunday’s New England 300. He’ll be followed by teammates Jimmie Johnson (sixth), Terry Labonte (14th) and Joe Nemechek (24th).

Brian Vickers will start sixth in Saturday’s New England 200 Busch Series event. Kevin Harvick, whose team leads the circuit in owner points, will start first.

NASCAR has scheduled the final Busch Series “Happy Hour” practice for Friday afternoon, weather permitting.
