CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Oct. 14, 2003) – Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon each earned top-five finishes at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Saturday, finishing third and fifth in the UAW-GM Quality 500.

Driving the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, Johnson was going for a season sweep at the 1.5-mile track after winning The Winston all-star event, along with the 600-mile NASCAR Winston Cup Series marathon in May.
