MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March, 5, 2007) - NASCAR NEXTEL Cup champion Jimmie Johnson and his fans should be quite familiar with the Kobalt Tools paint scheme by the time the 2007 NASCAR season concludes.
That’s because Kobalt Tools will sponsor the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet in two of Johnson’s NEXTEL Cup Series races as well as all three of his Busch Series races in 2007.
Kobalt Tools will also be the title sponsor for the March 18 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway now called the Kobalt Tools 500.
“I think the race fans are going to like the Kobalt Tools car paint schemes,” Johnson said. “I’m excited about running the two Cup races as well as going back to the Busch Series for three races.
“This is also a cool way of getting the word out about these tools. Kobalt is what I keep in the tool box at my house.”
The Kobalt Tools paint scheme will appear on Johnson’s No. 48 NEXTEL Cup car at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 18 and at Texas Motor Speedway on Nov. 4.
Johnson will race the Kobalt Tools paint scheme in Busch Series races at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on May 26 and Oct. 12, as well as California Speedway on Sept. 1.
Kobalt Tools is an industry frontrunner in hand tools, mechanics’ tools, tool accessories and just recently introduced the Portable CO2 Regulator, which is a portable CO2 tank that connects to any standard pneumatic device for power and strength on-the-go.
“Bringing the Kobalt brand to life through our relationships in racing is such an exciting opportunity for Lowe’s,” said Bob Gfeller, Lowe’s senior vice president of marketing and advertising. “Lowe’s will position the Kobalt Tools brand prominently beginning this March in Atlanta to drive awareness and encourage customers to try Kobalt products sold at Lowe’s.”
