Talladega qualifying: Martin highest in seventh

TALLADEGA, Ala. (April 25, 2009)—Mark Martin scored the seventh-place starting spot during Saturday’s qualifying session at Talladega Superspeedway, leading his Hendrick Motorsports teammates.
Martin, driver of the No. 5 CARQUEST/Kellogg’s Chevrolet, will start in the top 10 for the sixth time this season. The race airs Sunday on FOX at 1 p.m. ET
Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet, will start 11th, while Jeff Gordon will pilot his throwback No. 24 DuPont/Pepsi Challenger Chevrolet from 14th.
Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet, will line up 36th for Sunday’s 500-mile event.
