Hendrick drivers qualify inside top 18 at Infineon

SONOMA, Calif. – Hendrick Motorsports teammates qualified inside the top 18 during Friday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying session at Infineon Raceway.
Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s/Jimmie Johnson Foundation Chevrolet, locked up the 12th starting spot. In nine starts at Infineon, Johnson has one win, three top-five finishes and four top-10s.
Jeff Gordon scored the 13th spot in his No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet. In 18 Cup events at Sonoma, Gordon has five wins – most among all drivers there – 11 top-five finishes and 14 top-10s.
Mark Martin will roll off the grid 16th in his No. 5 Farmers Insurance/GoDaddy.com Chevrolet. In 20 Cup starts, Martin earned one win, seven top-five finishes and 13 top-10s.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start 18th. Earnhardt has five top-15 finishes in 11 starts at the 10-turn racetrack.
Sunday’s Cup event will air at 3 p.m. ET on TNT.
