SONOMA, Calif. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. will lead his teammates to the green flag in the first road-course race of the season.

The driver of the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet SS, who earned the Great Clips Fast Friday Award yesterday at the conclusion of final practice, will start Sunday's 110-lap event from the 13th position.

"We ran the same times yesterday and the car drove the same," stated Earnhardt. "We have a good race car in race trim speed against everybody else. I still feel that this is my best car at this race track. The car drove good. I made a couple of mistakes that cost me enough time to get into the next round, but I'm pretty excited about tomorrow."

Jimmie Johnson will line up directly behind his shop teammate during tomorrow's pace laps in the 15th position.

Securing the 16th-starting spot was Chase Elliott, who also earned the pole for today's NASCAR West Series race.

"I just tried to take a little bit of what we did yesterday," said Elliott after his qualifying run. "I had a good debrief yesterday after practice and the team gave me some good tips on cleaning up a few sections. I'm trying to put some more pieces of the puzzle together and learn something in the K&N race and most importantly for tomorrow."

Kasey Kahne rounds out the Hendrick Motorsports brigade in the 19th position.

Carl Edwards starts on the pole.
