AVONDALE, Ariz. – Friday evening at ISM Raceway, two Hendrick Motorsports teammates earned top-five starting positions for Sunday’s race.

Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman both advanced to the final round of qualifying, and Elliott did so by posting the fastest lap of the second round.

In the end, Elliott qualified second and he will roll off the grid on the outside pole Sunday afternoon. Bowman – a Tucson, Arizona native – earned a fifth-place starting spot at his home track.

All four Hendrick Motorsports teammates advanced out of the first round, but William Byron and Jimmie Johnson were outside of the top 12 after the second round.

Byron earned a 19th-place starting spot with Johnson just behind him in 20th.

Kevin Harvick captured the pole.

Sunday’s race is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on NBC, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Elliott will look to advance to the Championship 4 knowing that a win is the only way to guarantee his spot. He could also advance on points but would need help depending on the winner.
