HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Saturday evening at Homestead-Miami Speedway, Tyler Reddick captured the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship.

With it, he captured the Hendrick Motorsports engine department’s 21st NASCAR national series title. It was the department’s fourth Xfinity title.

Using a Hendrick Motorsports engine, the JR Motorsports driver outdueled competitors Cole Custer, Christopher Bell and Daniel Hemric to win the race and the championship.

“They support us in so many ways with our chassis and parts and the engines and all the different things that they do,” said JR Motorsports co-owner Kelley Earnhardt Miller said of Hendrick Motorsports.

JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. discussed the importance of the organization’s partnership with Hendrick Motorsports after Reddick took home the title.

“We've got great spotters that we use from (Hendrick Motorsports) as well, pit crews, motors, so all that stuff from (Hendrick Motorsports) just builds a ton of confidence in our program and in our organization,” Earnhardt said. “We've just got to tell our drivers that we're going to give them the equipment to succeed, and they just don't have to get over their head driving the cars, and everything will be fine.”

It marked the Hendrick Motorsports engine department’s second consecutive Xfinity championship – William Byron took the title using a Hendrick Motorsports engine in 2017.

Reddick’s trip to Victory Lane was the Hendrick Motorsports engine department’s 90th Xfinity Series win, bringing its overall win total to 419.

“Our relationship with (Hendrick Motorsports) and the opportunity it provides us to have guys like (crew chiefs) Dave (Elenz) and Kevin Meendering and Jason Burdett come to our organization and be part of our team is every bit of the reason why we're as competitive as we are,” Earnhardt said.
