Chad Knaus’ first win as a crew chief also was Jimmie Johnson’s first victory as a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver. The newly formed No. 48 team led 62 laps at Fontana, Calif., on April 28, 2002, to capture the win. Knaus and Johnson earned two more wins that season for a total of three victories, six top-five finishes and 21 top-10s.
