Mark Martin to join Hendrick Motorsports
Mark Martin, a 35-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race winner and the all-time leader in NASCAR Nationwide Series victories, has signed a two-year agreement to drive for Hendrick Motorsports beginning in 2009.



The No. 88 Chevrolet goes camouflage this weekend
When the National Guard decided to run a camouflage car this year, crew chief Tony Eury Jr. wanted the No. 88 National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet painted. He asked Donnie Floyd, the head of graphics, if it would be possible.

Plans set for second annual Jimmie Johnson Foundation Golf Tournament
The second-annual Jimmie Johnson Foundation golf tournament and dinner auction will take place August 27-28 in San Diego, Calif., with Lowe’s returning as the title sponsor. Funds from this year’s tournament will once again benefit the San Diego chapter of Habitat for Humanity.



Gordon aims for extra mile at New Hampshire
The number of laps in this Sunday’s LENOX Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) has increased by one since last year, and Jeff Gordon hopes to do “one” better than his 2007 results at the 1.058-mile oval.

In 2007, both events at NHMS were 300-lap races, and Gordon posted runner-up finishes in each.



Museum, team store closed July 4-5
The Hendrick Motorsports museum and team store will be closed July 4-5. The facility will reopen on July 7.



Heat workouts propel pit crews
In late May, Hendrick Motorsports’ pit crews basically ditched the gym, but it wasn’t for a day off.

It was to start preparing for the summer months.
