KANSAS CITY, Kan. – All four Hendrick Motorsports teammates advanced to Round 2 of Friday’s qualifying session, but it will be Jimmie Johnson leading them to the green flag on Sunday at Kansas Speedway.

Johnson just missed the final round of qualifying by one position and will start from 13th.

“There are some good takeaways from today,” Johnson said. “This is a good week for me and just trying to discover some things to get better and I think I can say I’ve gotten a little bit better.”

Chase Elliott will start a row behind Johnson in 15th.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne will roll off the grid a row apart as well, taking the green flag in 20th and 22nd, respectively.

Martin Truex Jr. captured the pole.

Sunday’s race is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
