CONCORD, N.C. – Kyle Larson tuned up for this weekend’s Knoxville Nationals with a sprint car win in the Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway.
Larson took the lead from Carson Macedo on lap 22 of the 30-lap event and the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion was able to pull away for the win.
"My car just felt extremely good," Larson said. "I didn’t do a great job on the start but I could instantly tell that we probably had the car to beat.
"I could just really go anywhere and as I caught Carson (Macedo), I got a good run off of two and was able to slide him and knew I needed to get gone because you get battling with Carson, it gets tough and then the rest of the pack will be coming behind you. Thankfully, my car was good enough to drive and lead there. I felt really good."

The win was Larson's second straight in the sprint car event in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He will next look to defend his Knoxville Nationals title. The 30-year-old from Elk Grove, California, is locked into the main event on Saturday night.
A victory there would make Larson the first driver with back-to-back wins at Knoxville since Donny Schatz took home five straight wins (2011-15) in the event.
In addition, he’ll be on track in the No. 5 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 at Richmond Raceway this weekend. NASCAR Cup Series practice and qualifying will take place on Saturday starting at 5:05 p.m. ET on USA Network. The 400-lap Cup Series event is set for Sunday at 3 p.m. ET, also on USA Network with radio coverage on MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Channel 90).
