CHICAGO — With the drop of the green flag for the Chicago Street Race, Alex Bowman reached a significant milestone in his Hendrick Motorsports tenure. He has made his 200th NASCAR Cup Series start for the organization.
The 30-year-old driver now joins an elite group as the eighth driver in team history to achieve this feat. He joins Kasey Kahne (216), Ken Schrader (267), Chase Elliott (268), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (340), Terry Labonte (387), Jimmie Johnson (686) and Jeff Gordon (805) as the drivers to hit that mark for the Rick Hendrick-owned organization.

Bowman made his first starts for the team in 2016, running 10 races as a substitute driver for the sidelined Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the No. 88 Chevrolet. In 2018, following Earnhardt Jr.'s retirement after the 2017 season, Bowman took over the No. 88. He spent three seasons driving that car number (2018-2020) and qualified for the playoffs in all of those years.
In 2021, Bowman transitioned to the No. 48 Chevrolet, following Jimmie Johnson's retirement from full-time NASCAR racing. That year, he won a career-high four races. In each of his two full seasons in this car number, Bowman has reached the playoffs. The 2023 campaign marks his third season in the No. 48, with full sponsorship from Ally.
To date in his career at Hendrick Motorsports, the Tucson, Arizona, native has seven wins, 31 top-five finishes, 75 top-10s, four poles and 1,265 laps led.
