RICHMOND, Va. – Friday evening at Richmond Raceway, Chase Elliott secured a top-five starting position for the second race of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.

The driver of the No. 9 NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 jumped to the top of the chart after his qualifying lap, but he was surpassed by two competitors before the end of the session, ultimately qualifying third.

Jimmie Johnson joined his Hendrick Motorsports teammate inside the top 10, qualifying 10th.

Alex Bowman and William Byron qualified 20th and 25th, respectively.

Brad Keselowski captured the pole.

Saturday night’s Richmond race is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
