The driver was fifth overall after wheeling his No. 48 Ally Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 around the 3.41-mile road course in the second of two rounds. It will be Bowman’s third top-10 start in six races in 2022. He has not qualified outside the top 15 this season.

Defending race winner Chase Elliott will start 12th, followed by Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson in 13th. Coming off his first win of the year last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, William Byron qualified 24th at COTA.

Ryan Blaney earned the pole position.
