CONCORD, N.C. - It's said that a picture is worth 1,000 words.
Well, this piece is worth $60,000. Or at least it was.
Welcome to the weekly artifact of the week segment where we - and by, 'we', we mean Hendrick Motorsports archivist, Sam Ulrich - go digging through boxes and crates looking for the coolest, weirdest and unique trinkets from our great history.
And yeah, you can win a prize too! More on that shortly.
This week, as the NASCAR Cup Series heads to Michigan International Speedway, Sam went scrambling through all of our Irish Hills-themed swag and hey, at the very least, this is one of our more valuable pieces.

We present a $60,000 check, one that was given to race-winner Jeff Gordon after his win at Michigan in 2001.
However, the money wasn't issued for the victory itself. Instead, it was awarded to Gordon for winning a race while leading the NASCAR Cup Series points standings.
In 2001, $340,000 was set aside as possible bonus money for points leaders who visited victory lane. A total of $10,000 was up for grabs per race with that total carrying over week-to-week until a qualified driver won.
In addition to the bonus, the victory also marked the 100th Cup Series win for Hendrick Motorsports. That tally now stands at 316.
Eight of those wins have come at Michigan. And that's where you come in.
By now, you likely know the drill. The trivia quiz above consists of seven questions based on Hendrick Motorsports' history at the coming week's track. Answer the most questions correctly and you're qualified to win that week's prize. A random drawing will break all ties.

This week's prize further commemorates Gordon's win in '01.
How about a nifty, semi-truck diecast celebrating those first 100 victories and featuring some of the hallmark moments on the side? It can be yours, so get your thinking caps ready!
As always, entries are limited to one per device. The quiz will close at 11:45 p.m. ET on Monday night, the day after this week's race.
Good luck!
