MEXICO CITY (June 12, 2025) – Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman Jeff Gordon has been named “Official Commander” of this weekend's Viva Mexico 250, the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race on the 2.42-mile Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez road course.
A four-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer, Gordon will give the official command to start engines at one of the most anticipated events on the 2025 calendar. Sunday’s race will broadcast live beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Prime Video, MRN Radio and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
With a career that defined the modern era of NASCAR, Gordon ranks third in Cup history with 93 points-paying victories. In addition to earning series titles in 1995, 1997, 1998 and 2001, he won the DAYTONA 500 three times, the Brickyard 400 a record five times and was instrumental in the explosive growth of NASCAR.
Going into Sunday’s event at the 15-turn Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez road course, Gordon still stands as NASCAR’s most successful road racer with a record nine career victories on serpentine tracks. Hendrick Motorsports will be seeking its fifth win of the 2025 season and a record-extending 32nd victory on a road course.
