CONCORD, N.C. - The NASCAR Cup, Xfinity, Truck, and ARCA Series return to Watkins Glen International this weekend for three days of racing at the 2.45-mile road course.
Hendrick Motorsports has a storied history at the Glen, earning 11 victories. It began in 1986, when Tim Richmond cruised to victory in an era before the bus stop chicane, a staple of the circuit, was added in 1992.
Fast forward to 2001 and Jeff Gordon scored his fourth win at the track after holding off Jeff Burton in a late race battle. The finish was made more dramatic as a limping Elliott Sadler triggered a caution with two to go. Since this was before the era of overtime restarts, drivers raced back to the yellow flag to secure their position, making the penultimate lap essentially the race's decisive moment.

Then in the 2018 season, Chase Elliott broke through to nab not just his first career victory, but also Hendrick Motorsports' 250th in the Cup Series. After saving enough fuel in a tense fight with Martin Turex Jr., he was able to outlast him and coast to the finish.
Unfortunately, Elliott did not have enough fuel to make it back to the frontstretch on his own. But with a push from seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, he was able to make it back to the finish line and claim his first checkered flag. This kickstarted a five-race winning streak at the track for the organization.
