DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - As is the norm, inclement weather is in the forecast for this weekend in Daytona Beach and particularly, at Daytona International Speedway, site of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season finale on Saturday.
After being delayed due to a lightning hold, 15 Xfinity Series cars took to the track to run qualifying laps before Mother Nature intervened again. This time, NASCAR pulled the plug, setting the field for Friday night's Xfinity event by metric.
Cup Series qualifying was originally set for 5 p.m. Should it also be scrubbed, NASCAR will set the starting lineup for Saturday night's race via formula. An Xfinity Series race was also set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday night.
