CONCORD, N.C. - Over the decades, sponsorship of NASCAR Cup Series teams and races have produced some unforgettable paint schemes, fire suits and of course, trophies.
And they're not all beer companies and auto parts stores.
As the sport heads back to Kansas Speedway this weekend for the second race of the Round of 12, it presented Hendrick Motorsports resident archivist, Sam Ulrich, the opportunity to dust off one of the more unique prizes in NASCAR history.
We present, or re-present, the 2015 winning trophy for the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 at Kansas Speedway! The race was won by Jimmie Johnson in 2015.
FALL FEST: Come meet your favorite Hendrick Motorsports driver!

The hardware is a sight to behold, but it wasn't the first time Nickelodeon's favorite underwater cartoon character made his presence felt in NASCAR or even at Hendrick Motorsports. While digging through boxes, ol' Sam also came across a pair of long-forgotten gems - two SpongeBob SquarePants driver's helmets, worn in by Johnson and Kyle Busch in the, "Lowe's Presents the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300," an Xfinity Series race held at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 2004. Johnson also ran a SpongeBob SquarePants paint scheme for the 2003 summer race at Daytona International Speedway.

Back to that trophy.
As singular as it is, the win was vintage 48 team. Slowly gaining ground throughout a race that was halted more than two hours for rain and finished after midnight, crew chief Chad Knaus came up with a crucial pit call in the late stages, choosing to leave Johnson on the track during a late caution. Johnson paid it off, holding off a hard-charging Kevin Harvick down a final six-lap shootout.

Ah, memory lane. Now for the present. And your part!
See, ol' Sam doesn't just come up with cool prizes, he makes you earn them. He's concocted a seven-question quiz this week on all things Round of 12. Hendrick Motorsports is the all-time leader in victories in the second round with seven and above, you'll find an inquiry on each of them.
If you are among the top scores on the trivia quiz, you will be automatically entered into a random drawing for this week's prize.

And that prize is, of course, a Jimmie Johnson, SpongeBob SquarePants diecast/piggy bank! The car, which goes with the helmet from the 2004 Xfinity Series race, is a perfect addition to any collection.
Remember, entries are limited to just one per device and the quiz will close at 11:45 p.m. on Monday.
Good luck!
