CONCORD, N.C. - After his victory at Kansas Speedway last weekend locked him into the NASCAR Cup Series Round of 8, Chase Elliott need only concern himself with winning this Sunday at the Charlotte ROVAL.
And that wouldn't be anything new for Elliott or Hendrick Motorsports.
The organization has won over half of the races (four of seven) at the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course with Elliott and Kyle Larson each claiming two victories. Larson is the defending winner of the event.
Hendrick Motorsports' other two drivers - William Byron and Alex Bowman - have each had solid runs there as well. The two rank sixth and eighth respectively in average finish among active drivers who've made more than one start (Byron is at 11.1, Bowman at 11.7). All told, the company's nine top fives, 18 top 10s and 266 laps led also lead all teams.
This weekend's race will serve as the finale of the Round of 12 with Larson entering 54 points above the cutline and Byron 40 markers clear.
