NASCAR stats, driver averages at Talladega: Chase Elliott spearheads Hendrick Motorsports history

CONCORD, N.C. - Chase Elliott enters this weekend's race at Talladega Superspeedway with two wins to his credit at NASCAR's biggest, baddest and fastest tri-oval. 

A third would certainly be monumental. 

As would a first for either Kyle Larson or William Byron. With just two races remaining in the NASCAR Cup Series Round of 8, a win for any of the three would punch a ticket to the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway on Nov. 2. 

And while surviving the chaos at Talladega is never easy, no organization has been better at it than Hendrick Motorsports in the history of the Cup Series. The team is the all-time leader in wins (14), poles, top fives (70), top 10s (107) and laps led (3,105) at Talladega.

Elliott's two victories - one in the spring of 2019 and the other in the fall of 2022 - are part of that story. Byron, meanwhile, leads active Cup Series drivers with more than one start in career average finish (13.7) at Talladega. Elliott is second on that list at 14.1. 

Larson scored a runner-up finish in the spring race, his career-best showing at a drafting track. He was fourth in this event a year ago. Alex Bowman was seventh in the spring and has three top 10s in his last six Talladega starts.
