INDIANAPOLIS -- Jeff Gordon is going to have an incredibly busy Sunday.

But the driver of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet SS is more focused on the "incredible" part of that equation.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced last month that Gordon will get the opportunity to lead the Indianapolis 500 field to green this Sunday to begin the 99th running of the race -- just before he'll fly to Charlotte to drive 600 miles in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race.

"That's going to be a special day, for sure," Gordon said. "And it's actually going to motivate me to go and try to win the 600, as well. I get to see these guys take off and do 230 miles per hour around here in an Indy car -- I'm going to be pretty jazzed up to get to Charlotte run our race."

When the announcement was made, Gordon got a chance to take the Corvette Z06 pace car out for a spin around the track.

"It truly is an amazing car," the five-time Brickyard 400 champion said. "Just right there I had it up over 160 miles per hour and it just felt amazing."
