CONCORD, N.C. – Wednesday, Alex Bowman spent the day in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to help promote the upcoming race at Michigan International Speedway.

From meeting and greeting fans, helping serve tamales, spending time with puppies from the West Michigan Humane Society to having the city officially declare the day “Alex Bowman Day,” it was quite an eventful day for the driver of the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

"It's been a lot of fun," Bowman said. "The tamales and dogs were probably my favorite part. I like food, and then who doesn't love puppies. A lot of fans came out. I got to sign autographs and take some pictures. Really cool being up here promoting the next Michigan race."

Step-by-step, here’s a look at how Bowman’s day in Grand Rapids unfolded.

10:15. a.m.: Bowman arrives in downtown Grand Rapids from the airport and greets fans via social media. 

10:30 a.m.: Bowman heads to Rosa Parks Circle and interviews with a number of local news outlets in the Grand Rapids area. The driver had the chance to spend time with fans, and even some policemen, in between media obligations.

11:25 a.m.: Fans gather in Rosa Parks Circle to watch city officials officially declare "Alex Bowman Day." After the honor, Bowman does a Q & A on stage and answers questions from fans in the crowd. 

11:40 a.m.: Bowman meets and greets eager fans and signs autographs for kids. 

12 p.m.: For lunch, Bowman heads to the Tamales Mary food truck and helps prepare and serve meals to customers. 

1:05 p.m.: Bowman meets with the West Michigan Humane Society and plays with puppies that are up for adoption. He also helped present a $1,000 check to the organization. 

1:30 pm.: Bowman concludes the day with an interview with NASCAR.com before heading back home.
