DOVER, Del. – Jimmie Johnson’s a prankster?

Apparently.

Despite being disappointed with last weekend's result in the Bank of America ROVAL 400 when he spun himself and Martin Truex Jr. out in a last-lap attempt to win the race, the seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion brought some chuckles to the garage area Sunday morning at Dover International Speedway.

While discussing the incident with Truex Jr.’s crew chief, Cole Pearn, he lightheartedly suggested that Johnson buy the entire No. 78 team road bikes to ease their frustration.

So Saturday night, Johnson went shopping and left the Colorado-based team a special surprise on the liftgate of their hauler that they would see upon entering the garage area Sunday morning.

And the prank had a happy ending for many young fans at the racetrack, as the bikes were given away to lucky bystanders.

Johnson and Truex even autographed a few.

After the tough end to last weekend’s race, this weekend’s prank made for a fun way to close that chapter.
