FONTANA, Calif. – Chase Elliott led his teammates in qualifying for Sunday’s race at Auto Club Speedway.
In Friday night's qualifying session, Elliott and Jimmie Johnson advanced to the final round but were two of 12 cars that did not post times due to time expiring prior to crossing the finish line. Therefore, their Round 2 qualifying times were used to determine their starting positions for Sunday's 200-lap race.
Elliott will take the green flag eighth while Johnson will roll off 11th.
Both William Byron and Alex Bowman advanced to Round 2 of qualifying where they secured the 22nd and 23rd starting spots, respectively.
Austin Dillon captured the pole.
Sunday’s race is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
