DOVER, Del. - Rain ended the NASCAR Xfinity Series race Saturday at Dover Motor Speedway prematurely.
Jake Finch took the helm of the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports for the first time in his career, rallying late to score a top 20 with a 17th-place finish.
Finch started 21st, racing alongside series mainstays like Brennan Poole, Justin Allgier and other debuting rookies like Lavar Scott. He stayed out of trouble and kept his car on the lead lap amongst tight completion along the high-banked concrete.
At the start of the race, the green flag fell under blue skies but as the first and second stages played out, rain and thunder surrounded the facility once again. Earlier in the day, weather also thwarted the NASCAR Cup Series attempts at practice and qualifying. Instead, Sunday's starting lineup was decided by NASCAR's metric with Chase Elliott set to start on the pole.
