LONG POND, Pa. -- Chase Elliott will lead his Hendrick Motorsports teammates to the green flag in Sunday's race at Pocono Raceway.

All four Hendrick Motorsports drivers advanced through the first round of Friday's qualifying session, however, Elliott was the only one to make it to the final round. He will take the green flag in eighth.

Jimmie Johnson locked his No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet SS into a 21st starting position for Sunday's race. His teammates, Kasey Kahne and Jeff Gordon will start in 23rd and 24th positions, respectively.

“We just needed more turn," Kahne said. "In practice earlier the car was turning really well. Right there we needed it to turn better. The first run I was tight, the second run I was tighter and then we freed up. It is tough to find that sweet spot that we are looking for, but we will keep working.”

"I picked up speed every time we went out," Gordon said of his final qualifying run. "I think having to do that last run our third time on tires didn’t really give us a good chance to advance and get the lap that we wanted. It’s still a work in progress.”

Martin Truex Jr. secured the pole position for Sunday's race.

Tune in to watch the race Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
