Jeff Gordon and Sesame Street Team Up

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 25, 2003) - Jeff Gordon and The Jeff Gordon Foundation are again teaming up with Sesame Street to raise money for charity. The Jeff Gordon Foundation, established in 1999, and Sesame Street, created by Sesame Workshop, a non-profit educational organization, are in the second year of a multi-year partnership. The 2002 program featured the release of the “Jeff Gordon Foundation-Sesame Street Elmo” diecast car designed by renowned motor sports artist Sam Bass. This season, the special-edition diecast features another Sesame Street favorite, Cookie Monster, and is again designed by Sam Bass. Once more, this specially designed collector’s car will not be raced. Action Performance Companies will produce the diecast replicas of the “2003 Jeff Gordon Foundation-Sesame Street Cookie Monster” car, which will be released for sale in June of this year. "I am thrilled to continue the Foundation’s association with Sesame Street -- one of the most beloved children’s television programs,” said Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. “This popular program gives us the opportunity to help children through the on-going work of The Jeff Gordon Foundation.” “We are proud to work with the Jeff Gordon Foundation to raise awareness for various children’s issues,” said Liz Kalodner, Sesame Workshop’s senior vice president and general manager of global consumer products and international television distribution. The Jeff Gordon Foundation was established in December of 1999 by the four-time Winston Cup champion to support children and families in need. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Marrow Foundation and Riley Hospital for Children. Sesame Workshop is a nonprofit, educational organization making a meaningful difference in children’s lives around the world.
