Busch Teams Earn Top-15 Finishes at Milwaukee

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (July 1, 2002) -- The two NASCAR Busch Series teams of Hendrick Motorsports each garnered top-15 finishes on Sunday at The Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wis. Starting from the 18th position, Jack Sprague retained his Busch Series points lead with a 14th-place finish in the GNC Live Well 250, his 13th top 15 of 2002. The three-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion has finished outside the top 20 only once in 17 starts this season, with six top-five finishes and 11 top 10s in the No. 24 NetZero Chevrolet. For the fourth time in 11 races this season, Ricky Hendrick finished 15th in the No. 5 GMAC Monte Carlo. The Busch Series rookie started 12th, his fifth top-15 start of the year, and moved up one position in the points standings to 27th overall. Among drivers with 11 starts or fewer, Hendrick ranks third behind Jeff Green (23rd) and Michael Waltrip (26th), both NASCAR Winston Cup Series regulars. Kevin Lepage is fourth (28th), with Jimmy Spencer fifth (30th). The Busch Series will move to Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on Friday for the running of the Stacker 2/GNC Live Well 250. The race, scheduled for an 8 p.m. EDT start, will be carried live on MRN Radio and the FX television network.
