HAMPTON, Ga. - On a night in which so many contenders in the NASCAR Cup Series never saw the checkered flag, a 17th-place, lead-lap finish at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Saturday night was good enough for Kyle Larson.
At least where the NASCAR playoff standings are concerned.
With the most points among three drivers who've gone to victory lane three times this year, Larson remained atop the heap and sits 38 points above a two-way tie between Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell.
Larson's Hendrick Motorsports teammate, William Byron, continues to show the way in points with his 631 markers remaining the most in the sport. He's in fourth in the playoff standings with Chase Elliott, fresh off his first win of the season at Atlanta on Saturday, in fifth.
Finally, with a third-place showing, Alex Bowman moved up a spot and is now in 15th, 39 points above the cutline.
Here's a look at the NASCAR Cup Series standings.
