CONCORD, N.C. - It's a busy week of racing as the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway this Saturday and Sunday. Meanwhile, the CRAFTSMAN Truck and ARCA Series engage in some short track racing at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
If there is any name synonymous with the Brickyard 400, it is Hendrick Motorsports. The organization has brought home 11 wins, the most all time.
The run of success started with Jeff Gordon in 1994, when he took home the inaugural Brickyard 400 after passing Ernie Irvan with five laps to go. From there, the current Hendrick Motorsports vice chairman and NASCAR Hall of Famer would go on to win the event four more times (1998, 2001, 2004 and 2014), setting the record for most Brickyard wins.
That was followed up by Jimmie Johnson, the next-winningest driver of the Brickyard 400. He kissed the bricks four times in his tenure with Hendrick Motorsports (2006, 2008, 2009 and 2012). Kasey Kahne also won the event for the organization, surviving a chaotic race in 2017 that saw multiple red flags and two overtime attempts.
Kyle Larson's win last year marked Hendrick Motorsports 11th trip to victory lane as he also won the event in an overtime fight to the finish.
