CONCORD, N.C. – Kasey Kahne’s No. 5 HendrickRideAlong.com Chevrolet SS pays homage to history.

The throwback look is modeled after the very first car to drive for All-Star Racing – in 1984 -- which was renamed Hendrick Motorsports the following year.

But it also shows off a brand new sweepstakes.

“When Darlington announced the throwback concept, we thought it would be a great opportunity to bring back the All-Star Racing car and build in a sweepstakes for fans and customers,” Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick said. “Seeing the paint scheme on the track at Darlington and Richmond will bring back a lot of memories.”

The Hendrick Ride Along program that will be featured on the car at Darlington and Richmond International Raceway is part of Hendrick Automotive Group’s promotion to win a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride in a stock car with Kahne. The all-expenses-paid trip to Charlotte, North Carolina, includes the ride along, travel, accommodations and a full behind-the-scenes tour of Hendrick Motorsports. Fans can register between Sept. 2 and Oct. 31 by visiting www.HendrickRideAlong.com or visiting their local Hendrick Automotive Group dealership.

“It is a great opportunity for fans to go into a local Hendrick dealership or go to HendrickRideAlong.com and sign up to basically ride with me at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and I’ll give you the best ride that I can,” Kahne said.

Sister companies Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Automotive Group have partnered for a two-race sponsorship built around the sweepstakes.

The program will begin at Darlington and will continue through the Richmond race on Sept. 12.

“You can expect that we will go as fast as that car will go. And we are going to get as close to the wall as I can get without hitting it,” Kahne smiled when discussing the ride-along. “It will be a good time. Charlotte is a really neat track; I have won a lot of races there and enjoy driving around that place.”
