Keselowski qualifies 13th for Las Vegas Cup event
LAS VEGAS (Feb. 27, 2009) – Brad Keselowski posted the 13th-fastest time during Friday's qualifying session to make his third NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event in the No. 25 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet fielded by Hendrick Motorsports.
Keselowski was excited about the Impala SS that crew chief Lance McGrew had chosen for the event. McGrew selected Chassis No. 25-411, which was the same car the rookie drove during his first two Cup starts at Texas Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2008.
“We ran very well at Texas with this car,” Keselowski said prior to qualifying. “We ran good in practice at Homestead until I put it in the fence and kind of hurt it. I think this car is going to be really good. I’m excited about it.”
Two of Keselowski's Hendrick Motorsports teammates also qualified in the top 15 -- Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Kobalt Tools Chevrolet qualified third, while Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 Pop-Tarts/CARQUEST Chevrolet, took eighth. Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, took 28th, and Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet qualified 31st.
