CONCORD, N.C. -- In 2018, a new era will begin for Hendrick Motorsports.

The organization will enter next year's NASCAR Cup Series season with four iconic numbers -- the No. 88, the No. 48, the No. 24 and the No. 9.

Tuesday evening, it was announced that Chase Elliott would pilot the No. 9 car -- the same number his father Bill drove to 38 Cup-level wins and the 1988 series championship. And newcomer William Byron will climb behind the wheel of the No. 24 Chevrolet Camaro, joining teammates Jimmie Johnson in the No. 48 and Alex Bowman in the No. 88.

After the announcement, Twitter was filled with reactions to the news, including thoughts from Elliott and Byron on their new rides for next season.
