DARLINGTON, S.C. - Though NASCAR split its series this weekend - the Cup Series and CRAFTSMAN Truck Series are at Darlington Raceway, the Xfinity Series and ARCA Series at Portland International Speedway - all eyes were on The Lady in Black on Saturday morning.
And they're sure to be again on Sunday night.
Cup Series practice and qualifying for the prestigious Southern 500 went into the books before the first college football games kicked off on Saturday. Kyle Larson led Hendrick Motorsports with a lap of 28.925, good enough to roll off fifth this weekend. William Byron will start 11th, Chase Elliott 21st and Alex Bowman 29th.

Sunday's race will mark the first race of the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs. All four Hendrick Motorsports cars are among the 16-driver field with Larson and Byron tied atop the standings. Larson and Byron each have a win at Darlington with Larson's coming in the 2023 Southern 500.
USA Network will air the Southern 500, which is set to start at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Here's a look at how the Cup Series will line up:
