KANSAS CITY, Kansas - Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and William Byron will all enter Sunday's second race of the NASCAR Cup Series Round of 12 at Kansas Speedway above the cutline.

Saturday's practice and qualifying sessions were the first steps toward staying there.

Larson will start third after logging a lap of 30.101 seconds. Elliott is right behind in the fourth spot after a circuit of 30.157. Byron will roll off 11th and Alex Bowman rounds out the Hendrick Motorsports contingent and will start 17th.

Byron is 47 points above the cutline in second place, Larson is just behind in third, 41 points clear and Elliott enters in seventh with a 14-point cushion. The playoff field will be whittled down to eight after the conclusion of next Sunday's race at the Charlotte ROVAL. Larson has three wins at Kansas while Elliott visited victory lane at the 1.5-mile tri-oval in 2018.

A NASCAR Xfinity Series event was set to round out Saturday's festivities. Rajah Caruth qualified eighth in the No. 17 HendrickCars.com Chevrolet.
