CONCORD, N.C. - With 22 victories and over four decades of success at Dover Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports archivist Sam Ulrich had his hands full when it came to settling on an item - or items - for this week's Artifact of the Week story.
So, when it came down to it, he chose something that he couldn't hold at all.
In 41 years of illustrious history, including 317 NASCAR Cup Series victories and counting, plenty of race cars hold special places in Hendrick Motorsports lore.
Certainly, that's the case for Alex Bowman's No. 48 Ally Chevrolet, the one he took to victory lane in 2021. The victory was part of an historic 1-2-3-4 finish for the company, the only such occurrence in organizational history and just the third such sweep in the history of NASCAR.
And wouldn't ya know it, ol' Sam knew just where to find the memorable metal and not only that, it's being restored!
That's right, the folks at Hendrick Performance just so happened to have the ride up on jacks, detailing it at just the perfect time for Sam and crew to stroll into the Track Attack Shop and take advantage of a photo opportunity.
We reunited the original door from the car with the under-construction vehicle itself and sprinkled a few trinkets across the hood for good measure. The door was also signed by all four drivers that day with Kyle Larson finishing second, Chase Elliott third and William Byron fourth.
Now, where do you come in?
See, the car is far from the only trinket we have from that victory and we want to send one to you. So, how about a commemorative photo, one that, unbeknownst to him just yet, Bowman will sign for the lucky winner?
