CONCORD, N.C. – Wednesday, Feb. 7, serves as the 38th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day – a day dedicated to celebrating and empowering girls and women in their pursuit of athletic excellence and recognizing the influence of sports participation and the self-realization that takes place. This day serves as a beacon of inspiration, passion and determination for countless girls and women across the nation.  

Throughout Hendrick Motorsports, a diverse array of talented women can be found, each making valuable contributions across a wide spectrum of roles. From the intensity of competition in the garage to the engineering that goes into preparing the team's race cars as well as the skill of hospitality and marketing, these women have helped form the backbone of the organization. Their unwavering dedication and efforts have helped shape the organization into the force that it is today. 

Recognizing the transformative power of sports, in shaping strong leaders and promoting resilience, Hendrick Motorsports hosted a special luncheon for the women on campus to celebrate this day. The organization took this special opportunity to shine a spotlight on the remarkable women who have played pivotal roles in the organization’s journey to success. Their dedication, preservation and unwavering support have been instrumental in pushing Hendrick Motorsports to new heights. This gathering provided an opportunity for these women to come together, fostering connections and exchanging narratives about their journeys in the world of sports.

With Hendrick Motorsports celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, it’s impossible to overlook the profound impact of one remarkable woman who has been a pillar of strength since the very beginning – Linda Hendrick. As the wife of team owner Rick Hendrick, Linda’s steadfast support and commitment have been the rock of the organization’s success. Recently honored with the 2023 Papa Joe Hendrick Award of Excellence, she embodies the core values that define the organization – teamwork, servant leadership, passion, enthusiasm, continuous improvement, integrity and accountability. Her leadership and dedication serve as an inspiration to women across campus, as a reminder of the profound impact that one woman can have on an entire organization.
