DOVER, Del. (Sept. 25, 2005) - Jimmie Johnson drove his No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet to Victory Lane at Dover International Speedway on Sunday, winning the second race of NASCAR’s “Chase for the NEXTEL Cup” and taking over the lead in the championship standings.
“It was just a real solid day for the Lowe’s team today,” Johnson said. “We started the race off great and led some laps. It was a good day for the whole Hendrick organization.”
Kyle Busch finished second in his No. 5 Kellogg’s Chevy. His team had a successful test session prior to the Dover event and shared that information with Johnson’s crew chief, Chad Knaus.
“You just try to make (your teammates) as good as you can,” Busch said. “That’s what teammates are all about, especially here at Hendrick Motorsports. It doesn’t matter what team is in Victory Lane.”
Busch was followed by Brian Vickers in 14th and Jeff Gordon in 37th.
