(Oct. 10, 2002) -- Joe Nemechek led all Hendrick Motorsports drivers in pre-qualifying practice at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Thursday, posting the second-fastest lap of the two-hour session. Driving the No. 25 UAW-Delphi Chevrolet, Nemechek ran a time of 29.188 seconds and 185.008 mph, the quickest of his 13 laps around the 1.5-mile oval. Four-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon was 11th in the No. 24 DuPont Chevy, with Terry Labonte 18th in the No. 5 Kellogg’s Monte Carlo and Jimmie Johnson 32nd in the No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet. Jerry Nadeau was quickest in the first UAW-GM Quality 500 practice at 29.150 seconds and 185.249 mph.
