Hendrick Motorsports test session scheduled for New Hampshire Motor Speedway

Hendrick Motorsports test session scheduled for New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, N.H. – After battling each other for the win this past Sunday, Kasey Kahne and teammate Jeff Gordon will visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway as part of a Hendrick Motorsports test session on Wednesday, Aug. 14. The test session is in preparation for the return of NASCAR’s playoffs to the Magic Mile on Sept. 22.

Five-time champion Jimmie Johnson and the decade-long reigning Most Popular Driver in NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Jr., will join their Hendrick teammates at the test.

The grandstands will be open free of charge to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The test session will come a little more than a month before NASCAR returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the 300-mile event, the second stop in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

This will be Gordon’s third trip to Loudon in the last two months. The four-time Sprint Cup champion took part in the two-day Goodyear tire test back on June 25 and 26, and he also raced his No. 24 Chevrolet SS to a 10th-place finish in the July 14 Sprint Cup event.

“I think that we’ve got some good tests planned. That’s the tricky part about it is that it has to balance out for all of your teammates. It incorporates the whole organization on these tests,” said Gordon, who currently ranks ninth in points. “We’ve got to compromise a little bit for us where we’re at in points versus where they are and they have to compromise with us a little bit. I think we found the best balance right now and we’ve got a good plan.”

Hendrick Motorsports is coming off one of its strongest weeks of the season, with Kahne taking the checkers in Pennsylvania on Sunday. Gordon finished second, Earnhardt crossed the line in fifth and Johnson, who led 43 laps, rallied from a late crash to finish 13th.
