Jeff Gordon earned his first pole position of the season on May 6 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Gordon also earned the top starting spot in the May Cup event at Talladega in 2011, making him a back-to-back pole sitter for the spring race.
Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, earned the pole position at Talladega Superspeedway. This is Gordon's 71st career NASCAR Cup pole. He is third on the all-time Cup pole list.
