Earnhardt to participate in Kansas tire test

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet, will join other NASCAR Sprint Cup competitors for the upcoming Goodyear Tire test at Kansas Speedway later this month.

The tire test will be held Aug. 28-29 and each 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. session is open to the public free-of-charge. Fans planning to attend should click here for more information.

This summer, crews have been adding variable banking to Kansas Speedway, changing it from the old 15 degrees to elevation that is between 17 and 20 degrees in the turns. The banking on the frontstretch also has changed slightly, decreasing to 10 degrees (formerly 10.4 degrees), while the banking on the backstretch has increased slightly to 5.5 degrees (formerly five degrees). Crews also added an infield road course to Kansas Speedway.

The 1.5-mile track will host the sixth event in the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup on Oct. 21. Click here for ticket information.
