CONCORD, N.C. — A ceremony dedicating the Jeff Gordon Expressway will be held at 2:30 p.m. local time during Hendrick Motorsports’ Fan Fest on Friday, May 25.
The 1.6-mile segment of I-85 stretches from the city of Charlotte corporate limits to the Cabarrus County line, and is being named to honor Gordon for his 85th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win, as well as his commitment to public service in North Carolina Gordon, driver of the No. 24 Drive to End Hunger Chevrolet, captured the milestone win on Sept. 4, 2011, at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He now ranks third on the all-time NASCAR Sprint Cup wins list.
