Kyle Busch Grabs Pole at Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. (April 20, 2006) – The last time Kyle Busch visited Phoenix International Raceway, the 20-year-old scored his second career NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series win. On Thursday, the desert magic continued as the youngster nabbed his second-ever pole position. With a lap of 29.917 seconds (133.745 mph), Busch put his No. 5 Kellogg's/CARQUEST Chevrolet up front for Saturday's Subway Fresh 500. The event will mark his 50th NEXTEL Cup start. “It was pretty good today from the beginning when we unloaded off the trailer,” Busch said. “It is the ‘sister’ car to the one we won with here last fall. It feels like it is a little bit better, at least so far. “We are excited that we have a great race car for Saturday night.” Coverage of the event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET Saturday on the FOX network. Radio coverage will be provided by MRN Radio.
