Pocono qualifying rained out, set by points

LONG POND, Pa. (June 5, 2009) -- Hendrick Motorsports' teams will line up in the first nine rows for the 500-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event at Pocono Raceway on Sunday. The starting grid was determined by the owner standings after Friday's qualifying session was rained out at the 2.5-mile triangular track. Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, will start second, marking the fifth time he has started from the front row this season. Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No. 48 Lowe's Chevrolet, will line up behind Gordon in third. Mark Martin, driver of the No. 5 Kellogg's/CARQUEST Chevrolet, will start on the sixth row in 12th, while Dale Earnhardt Jr., driver of the No. 88 National Guard/AMP Energy Chevrolet, will roll off three rows behind Martin in 19th. Race coverage will start at 12:30 p.m. ET on Sunday on TNT, and the green flag is scheduled to drop at 2 p.m.
