Race Concord, N.C. tracks through Hendrick Marrow Program Half Marathon and 5K

CONCORD, N.C. (Sept. 11, 2009) – Lowe’s Motor Speedway will put its race cars in park on Sunday, Nov. 22 to make room for the inaugural Hendrick Marrow Program Half Marathon and 5K Walk/Run. The half marathon will take runners on one of the most exciting and unique courses in the nation. The race will go down the zMAX Dragway, loop the perimeter of The Dirt Track, cross the pedestrian bridge and make a lap on the famous Lowe’s Motor Speedway before running through Morehead Farms Campground and returning to Lot Z. Proceeds from this event will support the Hendrick Marrow Program, which rallies the racing community to add potential marrow donors to the Be The Match RegistrySM and helps patients in need of a marrow transplant. “I’m excited that participants will have the opportunity to support the Hendrick Marrow Program and take advantage of such a unique race course,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “The timing of the event is perfect; once the awards ceremony concludes, fans can go home and watch the NASCAR Sprint Cup season finale from Homestead (Fla.).” Registration will open at 6:30 a.m., with the half marathon starting at 8 a.m. and the 5K beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sponsored by AutoTrader.com, both races will begin and end in Lowe’s Motor Speedway’s Lot Z.
