CONCORD, N.C. -- When it comes to NASCAR's short offseason, rest and relaxation are all the more important.

While Kasey Kahne agrees, he noted this offseason that racing is never far from his mind.

“I worry about racing nonstop," Kahne said. "It's just how I live. It is my passion, and it is what I love."

During his time off, Kahne cheered on his favorite NFL team, the Seattle Seahawks, at a game and spent a week snowboarding in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Although Kahne enjoyed taking the time to do things away from racing, staying in shape was also on the top of the list when preparing for the 2015 season.

“I like the offseason," Kahne said. "It's the time of the year when I like training more because I'm not racing and don't have such a grueling schedule."

Running, swimming, and biking are just a few ways Kahne trains and prepares for a taxing season.

“I like finding ways to work out and be pretty worn out," he said. “But making it fun and changing it up is a big part of it for me."

The offseason may be a time for drivers to step out from behind the wheel, but the 2015 season is nearly here.

"The way the teams prepare with cars, the trailers, all the little things they go through during the offseason to get ready to go for a long, grueling season is key when we're at the track," he said. "The thing that I feel I can help with and be a part of is just being a part of the team and being a part of the group. We have a strong group of guys."

Now, it's full speed ahead toward Daytona.

“I feel like we will be in a better position and ready to go once we get to Daytona," he said.
