KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- For the second week in a row, Alex Bowman will lead his Hendrick Motorsports teammates to the green flag at Kansas Speedway.

Bowman was the organization's only driver to advance to the final round of Friday's qualifying session, earning a fifth-place starting position.

Chase Elliott just missed the final round of qualifying and will take Sunday's green flag in 13th.

"We also have multiple laps on Sunday rather than just one to try to make your car drive good," Elliott said. "It's good to have a good starting spot and obviously it's good to have a good pit road selection but I think if you get your car driving good, that'll override it on Sunday."

Both Kasey Kahne and Jimmie Johnson did not advance past the second round of qualifying either and will start 20th and 21st, respectively.

"From Round 1 to Round 2 the car was much tighter," Johnson said. "I don't know if it's a good or bad thing; I'm not accustomed to qualifying well all the time. I'm used to racing through traffic and I'm not worried about this and we'll get this Lowe's Chevy up there."

Tune in to the race Sunday, October 16 at 2:15 p.m. ET on NBC.
